Admin Professional’s Week is Upcoming, With A New Twist!

Admin Professional’s Week is Upcoming, with a new twist!

Many people ask, “when is Admin Professionals Week?” Or “what do you get your admin professional at the office?” This article will answer those questions for you!

Since 1952, companies nationwide proudly recognize the importance and value of a few people in the company, the secretary or administrator. The United States will be observing this unofficial secular holiday the last week of April 24-30, 2011, with a great twist. According to the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), “The recession has hit everyone in the office. Downsizing has forced all of us to pull together and work harder, not just the administrative professionals in the workplace. IAAP recognizes the hard work and sacrifice from everyone. This year, celebrate all office professionals.

Why did Secretaries Week Change to Administrative Week?

The IAAP explains this on their website, “in the year 2000, IAAP announced a name change for Professional Secretaries Week and Professional Secretaries Day. The names were changed to Administrative Professionals Week and Administrative Professionals Day to keep pace with changing job titles and expanding responsibilities of today’s administrative workforce.” (http://www.iaap-hq.org/events/apw)

Since Administrative Professionals hold such a great importance to your company, lets treat them right this year, along with other vital members of your company! Celebrating all office professionals will allow company executives to show just how much the office staff means to them. The challenge though is to do this on a budget! With expense accounts not as large as before, executives are trying to think of money saving ideas that still shows appreciation for their office staff. How do you show appreciation to your staff on a budget?

Top Five Foods You Shouldn't Eat At Your Desk

Top Five Foods That You Should Not Eat At Your Desk!
There are foods that always bring comfort. Sometimes, these foods also mean a lot of napkins. No problem if you are out and about, but what if you are eating at work? Here are some favorites that might have you cleaning up all day. Put away those important reports and shove your keyboard to the side for these five foods that will be all over your workspace.
1. Cheesesteak – a classic and hard to resist item. But it’s also a drippy cheesy mess. Good luck keeping it off of your clothes, let alone your keyboard. Best to wrap some paper around this bad boy and clear off plenty of deskspace.
2. Soup – Simple to make and great on a chilly day. But watch out for splashes. Falling noodles and veggies from an overloaded spoon might add some color to your desk. You might be able to sop that up with some bread.
3. Nachos – A plate of loaded nachos can be the highlight of a long workday. And cleaning up the drips and bits might take the rest of the week. Save some chips for the piles of sour cream, beef and cheese that will be all over those spreadsheets.
4. Chili cheeseburger – This may be the king of messy food. Chili on top of cheese on top of beef on top of all the fixings, plus some bacon if you are really lucky. Nothing is holding this monster back. It’s probably best to lay down some newspapers or eat directly over the wastebasket.
5. Barbecue – Ribs are a deeply satisfying lunch. And half the fun is pulling them apart to get that slow cooked goodness. But there is no hiding your lunch from the rest of the office, as you will have sauce on everything between you and the package they came in. Wet napkins are a necessity. Even if you can eliminate the obvious signs of your feast, the stickiness will remind you of your feast all day.
